Tips for enjoying your stay at the Overhorn

Visit museum? Book tickets first!

Avoid disappointment at the door and book your tickets before you go to the museum. In fact, many museums offer a specific time slot in which you can visit the museum.

There is something for everyone in terms of museums. Whether you’re into art, history or physics, there is plenty to do.

Amsterdam

  1. Rijksmuseum, the museum of the Netherlands, in Amsterdam. Art and history from the Middle Ages to Mondrian. Experience the Night Watch and countless other world-famous masterpieces.

  3. Know everything or diamonds? At the Diamond Museum Amsterdam, you’ll go back in time and see how diamonds are formed and processed. There is a wonderful collection on display.
  4. The Anne Frank House on Westermarkt is in memory of Anne Frank and her Jewish family who were in hiding during WW2.
  5. The Van Gogh Museum: admire Vincent van Gogh’s masterpieces and learn about his life and work.
  6. The Rembrandt House in Jodenbreestraat is the house where Rembrandt lived and worked for 20 years.
  7. See, feel and taste at the Dutch brewery with the world’s most famous brand of beer: the Heineken Experience.
  8. 500 years of maritime history with beautiful ship models, navigation instruments and sea charts at Het Scheepvaartmuseum.
  9. Lover of modern and contemporary art: head to the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
  10. Do you like standing shoulder to shoulder with your favorite celebrity? Go to Madame Tussauds Amsterdam.
  11. It’s what is on the inside that counts, check it out at Body Worlds.
  12. Nemo Science on the wonders of engineering, physics, chemistry and biology.

  14. A fairy tale, hallucination, dream with music by Pink Floyd! Through Jan. 7: Dali and Gaudi at Fabrique des Lumieres.
  15. Great art sparks hearts: Hartmuseum (Hermitage Amsterdam).
  16. Watching movies, go to the Eye Film Museum. This website shows the program and you can also see and rent films -free of charge.
  17. Modern-street art at the Moco Museum including Jeff Koons, Keith Haring and Andy Warhol.
